About Counselling & Psychotherapy
What is counselling & psychotherapy?
Counselling and psychotherapy is increasingly recognised as a very effective way of dealing with personal problems. It provides a safe and reliable environment in which to explore your feelings & talk through difficulties with a professional therapist in a confidential and non-judgemental setting, which is often hard to find elsewhere.
By working with me as your therapist, the goal is to increase your ability to cope with a problem or situation that you're facing. I work in an integrative way which means I draw on a variety of counselling and psychotherapy techniques to suit your needs. We may stay focused on the present, and find a way to help you cope better in the here and now, or we may look at your past life experiences and see how they are affecting you at the moment. We will work together to bring positive change into your life.
How long does it take?
We will usually meet at the same time every week for a 50 minute session. I offer both short term and open ended therapy, and we'll discuss this during your initial consultation. We will usually agree to start off with an 6-12 week block of sessions at a minimum.
Who is it for?
Counselling and psychotherapy can benefit everyone. I have a wide range of experience, including work with bereavement, depression, anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, negative childhood experiences, relationship and sexual issues, work related issues and substance abuse.
At times we all find it hard to cope and need a little help to get back on track. Deciding to reach out and seek help from a counsellor is not always an easy thing to do, and often it's something you might have been thinking about for quite a while. But it could be one of the best, life changing decisions you make to help you move through difficult times in your life, and to reach a happier, more peaceful place.
Where does it take place?
I offer my counselling and psychotherapy services in two different settings. I offer traditional therapy inside, as you might expect, in a normal counselling room in Bristol. I also offer movement therapy, incorporating nature and the outdoors into the sessions. This can take place in a variety of locations around Bristol.
You can find out more about these options by clicking the links below, or you can get in touch with me to talk about which option might be best for you.
