Online and Phone Therapy
What is Online and Phone Therapy?
Online therapy is the same in principle as in-person therapy, except it takes place online using Skype, Zoom, or Google Hangouts. All the same principles of therapy apply, but we will work together virtually instead of in person.
Phone therapy is again the same in principle, but sessions take place over the phone, without the video element.
Who is it for?
For some people, getting to a session in person is either too difficult, or not desirable. For many they might think this means they cannot take part in therapy, but thanks to modern technology, that isn’t the case. I am passionate that everyone can benefit from therapy, regardless of their situation or preferences. New parents, carers, those who work from home, people who travel frequently for work, or those who simply don’t have the time to get to a therapy meeting can more easily fit in an online or phone session in their week. For some, it is simply a preference to take part in therapy this way.
How does it work?
All you need for online sessions is a phone or laptop with a camera. I will call you or dial into the virtual meeting room promptly at the agreed session time using the agreed virtual platform. In essence, everything else is the same as a face to face session.
For phone sessions, I will call you at the agreed time each week and we will speak for 50 minutes. Phone sessions can be particularly suitable for those who like to get outside and walk during their session, and tie it in with getting some movement and fresh air.
Wherever sessions take place, in person or virtually, all sessions are private, confidential, without judgement, and in line with the BACP code of ethics.
